Drama Previews: My Amazing Boyfriend
Howdy! I originally planned on taking a leave from writing drama recaps. It has been 6 years since my last drama recap post. And yeah, it’s a considerably long time. But after watching the trailer of My Amazing Boyfriend, I’m having second thoughts. It’s a rom-com with a touch of supernatural, or supernatural with a touch of rom-com, either way, I like it. I’m interested with the plot and I want to know how it’ll end for an immortal and a mortal. There’s a 70% possibility that I’ll be making recaps for this one. Hopefully, it’ll be entertaining as I thought it’ll be. Fingers-crossed.
Lovesick Movie Recap
Now, this is my cup of tea. It’s a romantic comedy alright, but it totally makes sense. This is something everyone can relate to. I mean, let’s face it, at some point in our lives we’ve been so deeply brokenhearted that the mere thought of falling in love again make us sick! Phew! Yep, that’s personal experience talking. Haha! Anyways, all I’m saying is this is good stuff! Thumbs up!
Now, let’s find some cure to this so called lovesickness shall we. 🙂
‘My DNA says I love you’ Movie Recap
The title is catchy, but then, that’s just about it. The movie fell short of my expectations. I mean it was fun, but something was definitely missing. Can’t pinpoint what though. Maybe, the lack of connection between the leads? I dunno really. Some were saying it’s good. Well, I say it’s rather average.
PS: This is more of a rundown than a recap. 🙂
Queen Not Getting Off Work (4 Gifts) Episode 5 Recap
I just knew this day would come. 😦
I regret to inform everyone that this will be my last entry for 4Gifts. To say it more tactfully, this just ain’t my cup of tea. Sorry.
Episode 5
All the while, JiaLiang assumed that RuoTian already forgot ShengJie. But then, he’s dead wrong. It hurts him so bad to know that the famous “outstanding” prosecutor is acting rather dumb and is still very much attached to her ex. She even hires somebody to gather info of his whereabouts. Disappointed and upset, he angrily tosses the info she needed and walks out.
Recaps @ CPop: Wanna join?
Last Monday (Oct. 11), CPop Access officially announced their plans to venture in the wonderful world of drama recaps. Yay, that’s super good news! Who knows? CPop may even reach Dramabean’s status! So I’m thinking, we’ll have Dramabeans for Kdramas (Korean) and CPop for Tdramas (Taiwanese). Now, all we need is another awesome blog which will cater Jdrama (Japanese) recaps. Amazing!
Their first project? Gloomy Salad Days! I’m actually happy and excited. I was planning on making a summarecap (a word I made up which means: not just a SUMMARY but not entirely a RECAP, hence, summarecap) for Gloomy but since CPop’s doing the job, I’ll just drop it off and focus on Flames and Q10. There will be a lot of interesting dramas next year, so this may be the nicest news ever in the Tdrama world.
They’re recruiting for interested writers. So, if you wanna have a first-hand experience in recaps or just looking for a different kind of pastime, why not join their team? As for me, well, I really wanted to but then, I believe I can’t. My hands are already full as it is. Maybe next time though. Nevertheless, I’ll be looking forward to their recaps.

Queen Not Getting Off Work (4 Gifts) Episode 4
Just a thought: Again, still not as humorous as Episode 2. Sorry, I’m really stuck with that episode! Is it only me? Anyways, the next episode sure looks action-packed! Me, looking forward now. Yay!
How come I find RuoWei’s cycling a little awkward? :p
Episode 4
Where did we left off? Oh yeah…. right about here….
JiaLiang: You dare say you have no feelings for me? Fine. Then this morning, who was the one who hugged me so tightly in the backseat? RuoTian: This morning, who was this crazy person who drove his motorcycle in the same speed as chasing a criminal? JiaLiang: Then, this morning, who was the one who boldly went into my arms?
RuoTian: Quiet down a bit! What are you foolishly saying?
Attorney General passes by and this puts a stop to the comic bickering. Just to avoid other complications, RuoTian immediately puts the head-gear on and speedily rides on JiaLiang’s motorbike. And on with the first date.
JiaLiang brings RuoTian to his favorite bar. And there, they show off their “skills”.
Coincidentally, there’s this lonely girl and a guy who seems interested in her. And to prove who’s better in logical assumptions, RuoTian and JiaLiang made a bet. JiaLiang believes that Mr. Interested Guy could win Ms. Lonely Girl’s heart. Of course, RuoTian takes the opposite end. If RuoTian wins, JiaLiang promises to wear her scarf while strolling down the night market, but if not, then she must agree to let him official date her.
RuoTian seems reluctant about the deal but just to preserve her pride, she goes along. So, what ya think happened? Our great police officer wins!
RuoTian: Police Officer Tong, thank you for sending me home.
JiaLiang: Hey, I’m off duty. Don’t call me Police Officer Tong. Just call me JiaLiang. RuoTian: Tong JiaLiang, thank you for sending me home.
JiaLiang: Hey! RuoTian: What? Did I call your name wrong? JiaLiang: No, don’t call my full name out. Just JiaLiang and be a bit gentler. RuoTian: You’re so fussy! JiaLiang: Just see it is as a practice. What will it do to you? Don’t be so strict after office hours!
And with JiaLiang’s persistent character and, not to mention, a little manipulation, he succeeds in getting a goodnight kiss.
RuoWei surprises everyone when she announced her participation in the bicycle competition. No matter how they dissuade her in joining, RuoWei remains resolved.
RuoYi: I think that girls who want to join this competition is crazy. I didn’t expect RuoWei would be one.
And the strenuous workouts begun. So it seems that when RuoWei is set for a competition, all her family and friends needs to take part in the whole training process. No one’s exempted! Okay, so Dad is. It’s understandable coz he’s old and has Alzheimer’s.
RuoTian is so tired after spending her weekend with morning jogs and all-day long physical workouts. To satisfy her sister’s relentless pursuit, she asks JiaLiang for some help.
And JiaLiang is more than eager to agree.
RuoWei, however, can’t help but notice JiaLiang’s well-toned muscles, which in result stirs RuoTian’s hidden emotions.
RuoWei: I said it pretty well. RuoTian: What? RuoWei: Top product. *Looks at JiaLiang* RuoTian: What top product?
It’s kinda cute how RuoTian tries not to make a big deal out of JiaLiang’s brawny physique when in fact, she’s very much affected. Haha!
RuoYi visits XiaoBin and RenShao is clearly thankful for the kindness.
He’s kinda chatty and tells her about his family. His Dad is a rich business man and his Mom is a mistress. They were having such a good time way back but it all changed when XiaoBin was born. Their parents think of XiaoBin as a burden, so his Mom just left him in the hospital.
All throughout the day, RuoWei acts cute and charming, which annoys RuoTian more and more. But then, she can only glares at her sister’s “ruse” behind a cup of coffee. JiaLiang, of course, is unaware of the tension.
When JiaLiang knew that RuoWei’s doing this for RenShao, he gets pissed.
JiaLiang: You women are really weird. Why is it that when women see RenShao Ting they become muddle-headed? RuoTian: RenShao Ting is tall, handsome and talented. He doesn’t have any bad points. For RuoWei to like him, isn’t a surprise at all. I think it’s you men, who are weird.Why is that when men see RuoWei they become muddle-headed? JiaLiang:Of course. RuoWei is pretty, knows how to act cute, and the way she talks is charming. Which man wouldn’t like her? RuoTian: Right, right Officer Tong. We women should talk charmingly. You men really only use your bottom-half to think. JiaLiang:I think you’re the one who’s weird.
JiaLiang then concludes that she’s just being jealous. He assures her not to worry coz she can act cute in front of him. He knows she’s tired after the long tiring day and offers his shoulder. Awww….
Since tomorrow’s THE day, RuoWei is quite busy conditioning her bike.
RuoYu: Sister, when I write a story, I’ll definitely want you to be the main character. RuoWei: Ok, you must picture me out as a woman who is full of charm, never had any enemies and knows everything about fashion. RuoYu:That’s not it. I already thought it through. I want to write you as a monster whose eyes can shoot laser beams in different rainbow colours and whose chest can fire out flying bullets. RuoWei: ShaSha, you’re not writing a romantic novel? RuoYu:What? I’m writing a science fiction!
Haha! I really thought it’s rather funny. It reminds me of my own little sister. We always have that kind of conversations.
Since RuoWei is a famous celebrity, RenShao’s assistant is quite worried for her safety (coz an accident during the competition may create a buzz and damage the company image). RenShao mulls over the remark and tries to contact RuoWei (maybe to retract the deal?). She’s not in her office and she’s not answering her phone, so RenShao decided to go the Zhang’s.
There, he meets Dad. And as they went inside the house, they smelled the leaking gas. To their alarm, RuoWei lies unconscious. RenShao performs CPR and they rushes her to the hospital.
Everybody’s worried for RuoWei. Medical findings state that she suffered from extreme exhaustion, causing her to pass out and thereby inhaling the poisonous gas. Thankfully, she’s fine now. RenShao feels so guilty that he admits defeat and agrees with the interview. But then, RuoWei can’t find victory in this circumstance and stubbornly insists on joining the competition.
The doctor advises that RuoWei take some more days to rest, but with the help of her friends, she manages to escape.
RuoWei is undoubtedly physically unfit, but still, she’s determined to finish what she started. RenShao is moved by her strength of character, so even though she finishes last, he grants her the interview.
The interview was such a success! The sales are high and everybody’s happy. Well, not everyone. RenShao angrily barges in RuoWei’s office and accuses her of being a fake and a liar. However, RuoWei is oblivious to what has happened and finds RenShao’s accusations uncalled for.
She reads the article (the one she supposedly wrote based on the interview) and instantly knew that the facts we’re altered to satisfy the reader’s preference. Now, she get’s riled up and confronts the Editor-in-Chief.
RuoWei’s temper really blows out of proportion. She’s so furious that she even resigns.
Queen Not Getting Off Work (4 Gifts) Episode 3
Like I’ve said, it’ll be more of highlight compilations for 4 Gifts and NOT recaps. Gomen to those who are disappointed, but I believe this is a step I must take . Haha! Melodramatic approach eh?
Just a thought: Humour for this episode is way subtle compared to Episode 2. And that is bad, coz I’m watching this drama, only, for its funny scenes. Hope they’ll have more of that next time.
Episode 3
RuoYi learns about XiaoBin’s mental condition, and thus, she kindly offers him the accessory. And in return, Big Bro RenShao acts all so gentlemanly and nice (gives her a chocolate bar and tends to her wound when she hurts her toe) that she falls deeper and deeper in love with him.
RuoTian desperately looks for JinLong. So desperate that she even threatens to sue almost everybody. For an “outstanding” prosecutor, she sure lacks common sense! JiaLiang couldn’t take the ridiculous act and reproves her outright. And as they were having their blissful moment of togetherness, ShengJie happens to pass by and destroys the ambiance. He ignores the two and walks off like he doesn’t know them at all. Obviously, RuoTian is upset.
Dad had a serious talk with soon-to-be son-in-law, YuXiang.
Dad: My whole life’s treasure is right here. I am very thankful for my 4 daughters. They all inherited a feature from their mother. RuoTian is hardworking and naive like their mom. RuoWei inherited their mom’s physical look. RuoYi is warm and caring. As for RuoYu, I always felt that she’s special…because she’s unique. And handing her to you, I can let go without worry. RuoYu’s older sisters have at least some memories about their mom. But when RuoYu was born, their mom passed away and she had no memories of her at all. She would often ask her sisters about their mom, and she would try to put the pieces together to see the blurry and unclear memory. Only then would she feel something called a mother’s love. This breaks my heart.RuoYu and RuoYi overhears Dad’s confession.
RuoYu: He remembers me. Not only does he remembers me, but he also cares for me. Mom is the same I can feel it.
Despite her sisters objections, RuoYi finally decided to move in and take care of Dad. Unexpectedly, RuoWei also returns home and RuoTian stays in for the night. Seeing all his 4 daughters, Dad is overly happy.
Due to lack of sleep, RuoWei is apparently unfocused at the staff meeting. There, the Editor-in-chief announces that though their performance for the last issue is not bad, they still must come up with fresh interviews. In the end, the Chief challenges RuoWei to get an inclusive interview from the elusive RenShao. And the Queen couldn’t back down, neh?
RenShao hires RuoYi and YuXiang for a certain promotional event (a bicycle competition) called “Fighting for Tie Zhan Mountain”. The said competition is grouped into two routes, the Easy and Difficult. Before RuoYi left, RenShao asks about her wound and that’s enough to bring RuoYi in high spirits.
RuoWei makes her move and invites RenShao for dinner. Once again, she displays her arrogance, of which RenShao couldn’t help but comment. However, she’s not a tad bothered and clarifies that it’s not arrogance but rather confidence. Without beating around the bush, she invites him for an interview. But then, he just laughs it off and rejects her request straightway. Finally, a challenge big enough for the Queen!
RuoTian tries to patch things up with ShengJie. And thankfully, the parasite refuses. Girl, he’s so not worth it! You can’t live with a guy who’s too insecure with you!
RuoTian is overtaken with pain and disappointment. And to emphasize her grief, she walks under the pouring rain, all drenched and acting heartbroken. JiaLiang sees her and convinces her to go home. But then, she’s being stubborn. And so, JiaLiang spits that she’s just being plain stupid. She’s not even in a drama, so she better act more mature.
RuoTian: Why are you just taking it off? JiaLiang: Why else? Do I have to apply for permission? RuoTian: This is my house! JiaLiang: You really do have a manipulative attitude. Prosecutor Zhang, my clothes are all wet. I really want to take my clothes off. Can I? Please accept my request.
And she agrees. JiaLing, however, catches her checking out his muscles and he haughtily smiles.
JiaLiang: Not bad right? RuoTian: Stupid!
The rain continues to pour so heavily, and so JiaLiang proposes to sleep over. She’s a little hesitant. And just to erase all her apprehensions, he volunteers to be handcuffed. To his horror, she really did cuffed him! Haha! Me thinks she’s enjoying this. He starts to protest but RuoTian remains adamant.
JiaLiang: This crazy woman! All my life, I’ve only handcuffed people. Never before have I been handcuffed myself.
That night, RuoTian and JiaLiang had the opportunity to talk about his life. Irene was ShuEr’s sister and RenShao was a transfer student back in their high school days. RenShao, JinLong and JiaLiang were sworn brothers way back. One day, RenShao, JinLong and Irene went for a swim. Unfortunately, Irene had an accident and died. Since then, he hated RenShao. RuoTian apologizes for being too nosy, but JiaLiang assures he’s just fine.
And this is a picture of a very confused woman on top of a very pleased man. Haha! The next morning, RuoTian is startled with the alarm, so she fell directly on top of JiaLiang. She accuses him of taking advantage of her, but we all know that isn’t the case, so she let’s it go. Something must have happened that night coz there was a sudden change of breeze. JiaLiang looks at RuoTian in a different light, and asks her to be his girlfriend. Of course, RuoTian is taken aback and takes it as an insult. But JiaLiang is rather sincere and serious about it. This is the beginning of something…
JiaLiang gives RuoTian a lift on his motor bike. On their way…
RuoTian: I’m warning you don’t tell anyone about the thing last night. JiaLiang: What thing? Getting drenched, heartbroken, spending the night together or dating? RuoTian: Definitely not all those. JiaLiang: Then are we dating? *then a light whack puts him in place.When they arrived, everybody (including Chief Prosecutor) finds the scene a little odd and snoops around. Before JiaLiang leaves, he tells RuoTian that he’ll come after work. Poor little RuoTian ends up explaining the unexplainable event to her boss.
After knowing about the bicycle competition from RuoYi, RuoWei visits RenShao for another attempt to secure the freakin’ interview. RenShao is perplexed to see her more confident after being rejected. And since she won’t take no for an answer, he makes a deal. If she makes it on the top 3 of the difficult route, then he’ll agree to have that interview. She grabs the chance!
At the Police Station, JiaLiang is clearly on a chirpy mood. FunnyFriend notices something strange and concludes that JiaLiang slept elsewhere (to a woman’s place maybe?!) He lays down the signs: 1. His hair is not messy enough. 2. He wears the same clothes in a row. 3. He smells sweet bodywash. Haha! JiaLiang could only laugh at that!
RuoTian wonders if JiaLiang will really come after work. She mulls over his words and by her smile, we know she’s slowly falling for his charms. And yes, he’s there. She’s actually ecstatic to see him waiting. But romantic cliché rules state that she must act hard-to-get and she did. She tries to pass by him, acting nonchalance and all, but he calls her attention. He even drops the formalities and calls her “RuoTian” . She’s rather shocked for his bold moves and insists that he calls her “Prosecutor”. But JiaLiang upholds the Alpha male status and remains resolved. Since she’s out of work, she’s no longer the brave “Prosecutor Zhang” but RuoTian, the girl he’s courting. RuoTian is blown in disbelief. When did she agreed to that? Besides, she doesn’t have any feelings for him. Yeah, tell that to the marines!
JiaLiang leans closer and asks: “Don’t you really have any feelings for me at all?
